ONCE UPON AN ISLAND

In my capacity as Head Librarian in The St.Croix Public Libraries I have occasion to come across many books; books and people--that's my job.  However, once in a great while, a single book stands out from all the others.  Something special, something unique about it calls one's attention to it.  "Pick me up," it seems to say, "Read me.  Hear my voice".

Once Upon An Island by Lila Linzer, Front Street, Ashville, NC 1998, is just such a book.  It's pages spillover with tales of island life that capture the reader's imagination and lead him on with its enchanting world.  And soon...sooner than you might think...the island becomes your island.

These stories are joyful celebration of our own Virgin Islands, its culture, its humor, its music, its language, its very way of life.  Please allow me to bring this important collection of original fables to your attention.  Lila Linzer, a local author,  has offered this lovely book as a tribute to all who live and have lived here.  I offer it to you, now, for your consideration.
