"...seen through the eyes of Cliff Maroney..." A Photo Exhibit

Amateur photographer Cliff Maroney arrived in St.Croix in 1973.  This native New Yorker immediately fell in love with the scenic beauty of the island and with its people.  He began capturing the scenery and the people on film.

Cliff photographed both the momentous and the ordinary.  Weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and birthdays were depicted.

He photographed many sporting events.  From Little League to horse racing, boxing to bowling, basketball and football to cricket, all were his subjects.

The historical and cultural were recorded.  Inaugurations, parades, and pageants were represented.  The man in the street and cruise ship arrivals were caught on his film.

His photographs show the beauty of nature as well as its devastating power.

He contributed to the yearbooks of St.Croix Central High School, St.Dunstan's and St. Mary's schools.  He recorded activities of Camp Arawak (youth development project). Many of his photographs appeared in the St.Croix Avis newspaper.

Cliff's prolific work of the past 25 plus years exhibits his appreciation for his island home and its people.

Cliff Maroney is a FRIEND of the Library and husband of Sylvania Golphin, Founder, The FRIENDS of the Florence Williams Public Library.  His exhibit of photographs are collages on panels and is located in the Adult Reading Room of the Florence Williams Public Library.
